Come show some patriotism by signing up for the most basic right guaranteed every citizen of the U.S. ASUA and ASA will be set up on the Mall to help students to register to vote. Registration forms will be available and people will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. Pick up a free Eegees while you're there. Introduce some culture into your life. The Buena Vista Social Club will visit Centennial Hall this evening in a performance showcasing Omara Portuondo, with special guest Barbarito Torres. Portuondo has long been one of Cuba's musical sweethearts, but had to wait until the 1997 Grammy Award-winning "Buena Vista Social Club" album to enjoy wider recognition. The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. in centennial Hall. Call the box office at 621-3341 to reserve your tickets. Tickets range between $30 and $42.

Visit the stars tonight with the Steward Observatory's Public Evening Series. This week Guy Consolmagno will discuss the details of "Brother Astronomer: Adventures of Vatican Observatory a Vatican Scientist." Consolmagno will also be signing copies of his new book "Brother Astronomer: Adventures of a Vatican Scientist." The lecture starts at 7:30 tonight in Room N210 of the Steward Observatory. Don't know hot to act in a job interview? What to wear? How to present yourself? Then you should probably stop by the "Interviewing Skills Workshop" sponsored by Career Services. This program will give you the skills to land the job of your dreams, so be sure to come to Chemistry and Biological Sciences Room 202 for this one-hour workshop. The UA Humanities Seminars kick off a new season this week with a 10-week series examining "The Truth of Lies." Professor Malcolm Compitello will explore Hispanic literature, art and history from 1950 to 2000. These classes are no-prerequisite, non-credit courses lasting three hours each week. Call 626-7845 to sign up or visit the Transitional Office Building at 1731 E. Second St. The classes cost $140 for all 10.

Do you get your papers back completely marked up with the dreaded red teachers love to use? The "Proofreading and Copyediting" program is probably just the place for you. In this workshop, instructor will review grammar, clarity, conciseness and style. The class lasts two hours and starts at 6:30 p.m. It carries a hefty tab, running you about $150 for the whole series, but if you sign up early you can get a discount.
