Olympics end for Nduwimana

Editor's note: This is the final letter from UA senior Patrick Nduwimana, who was eliminated from 800-meter dash semifinals while running for Burundi at the 2000 Summer Olympiad.

SYDNEY, Australia-Hi, I am sad that I could not go as far as I wanted to.

I tried to execute my plans, but my body just could (not) hold till the end.

I ended up (in) sixth place in the semifinals. I felt like I was a loser for (a) moment but then I realized that I was blessed to be in the Olympics.

Yes, my dreams fell short - I have to admit that - but God makes things happen for good reasons.

I wish I could go further, but that's how it is as of today. The good thing is there is always next time.

I am already booked for Edmonton, Canada next year for the World Championships and it could be a moment for celebration.

This is a learning experience: my learning curve gets shorter and shorter any time I lose a race.

OK, thank you, ciao.

Patrick Nduwimana
