UA in 3rd place after 25 holes

The only thing slowing the Arizona men's golf team down yesterday at The Preview by Ping and Golfweek was the weather.

After shooting a four-over-par 292 opening round in the morning, No. 6 Arizona got out to a blistering one-over-par on the first seven holes of the second round before play was suspended due to inclimate weather.

The Wildcats are currently in third place out of the 16 -team field, trailing No. 2 Georgia by four strokes and No. 9 Texas by one stroke.

Leading the way for UA is sophomore Reid Hatley, who is in second place, trailing Auburn's Kevin Haefner by one stroke.

Hatley shot an opening round two-under-par 70 and is currently two-under-par after the first seven holes in the second round, leaving him at four-under-par for the tournament. He is one of only seven under par in the tournament.

Sophomore Ricky Barnes and junior Cody Beyer are also in the top-20 individually.

Barnes is one-over-par after 25 holes placing him in 13th place and Beyer is tied for 19th at two-over-par.

Freshman Chris Nallen is tied for 47th and junior Tom Weiss is tied for 70th.

With playing being suspended yesterday, the tournament has been shortened to a 36-hole event.

The Preview by Ping and Golfweek is being played at the Duke University Golf Club in Durham, N.C.
