PHOENIX - Police are investigating reports that an El Mirage elementary school student stuck eight classmates with a syringe needle.
Donna Whalen, legal counsel for the district, said the syringe belonged to a member of the Dysart Elementary School student's family who reportedly is diabetic.
"There is no evidence at this point that there was anything harmful in the syringe or needle," Whalen said. But she said the needle would be tested.
A school nurse contacted the county health department and the parents of the pupils who were stuck, Whalen said.
Letters about the incident have been sent home to parents of all the pupils at the school, she said.
Whalen declined to say which grade the child is in or how old the child is.
