Join the Center for Creative Photography for an open house to celebrate their 25th anniversary this morning. UA President Peter Likins will be on-hand for this opportunity to go on a behind-the-scenes tour and a print viewing of classics from the CCP archives. Take advantage of discounts on memberships and items in the museum store and enter the free raffles after you tour the two exhibits on display. Cake and refreshments will be served in commemoration of the center's quarter-century history. The festivities begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m. Give Jeanne Courtemanche a call at 621-7968 for more details.

Here's your chance to get a head start on all the paper's you'll have to write this semester. Marion K. Slack, from the College of Pharmacy, will be hosting "A Workshop for Writing a Research Report," in Room 440 of the Shantz building. Learn about campus resources and how to get started during this one-hour long seminar, which starts at noon. Contact Muluneh Yitayew at 621-3691 for more information.

The Center for Creative Photography isn't the only department on campus celebrating an anniversary. The Rec Center is also commemorating its 10th anniversary with a shindig today. This one involves basketball, golf and hockey along with massages, yoga and t-shirts. Be at the Rec Center by 4 p.m. to get in on all the fun.

If you're still up for some more partying after you hit the CCP and Rec Center celebrations, drop by the welcome fiesta for the university's newest provost, George Davis. UA President Peter Likins be joining the university community to welcome Davis to his new position. The soiree starts at 4 p.m. in the Arizona Ballroom of the Student Union.

The Rec Center just can't get enough. In addition to the 4 p.m. party, the center will have another gala with a performance by The Big Shoe, pool golf, obstacle courses and a bungee run. The affair starts at 5 p.m. and runs until 8. Use this as an excuse to put off doing your homework, especially since everything's free.

Having trouble getting started on that paper you have due next week? The Writing Skills Improvement Program is the answer to all of your problems. Each Monday they will hold a writing workshop, and this week's topic is "The Process of Writing: Getting Started: Overcoming Writer's Block." The workshop starts at 5 p.m. and is held in Modern Languages Room 410. Call Donna Rabuck at 621-5849 for a listing of each week's topics.

The Faculty Artist Series kicks off a new season with a performance by tenor Robert Swenson and Paula Fan on piano. Beethoven's "Leider" and Schuman's "Liederkreis, opus 39" are on the agenda, along with eight French melodies by Reynaldo Hahn. The two musicians plan to showcase little known songs by Hahn. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. in Crowder Hall in the fine arts complex. Call the fine arts box office at 621-1162 for tickets, which cost $4 for students, and $10 for the public.
