If you are having difficulty navigating the periodical aisles of the UA Library, check out today's learning strategies workshop at 3 p.m. The hour-long instructional session aims at teaching students how to use electronic resources to find articles and books necessary for research papers, homework assignments and presentations. The lecture "Finding What You Need in the Library" will take place in the UA Science and Engineering Library room 308. The Poetry Center is offering a night of fun and entertainment as Aurelie Sheehan takes the stage and provides some words of wisdom from various published works of art. The recipient of many awards, including the Pushcart Prize for her most recent piece, "Jack Kerouac is Pregnant: Stories," will begin her reading as part of the Poetry Center's reading series at 8 p.m. in the Modern Languages auditorium. Is writer's block keeping you from getting a good grade on your English papers? Try visiting the latest installment of the weekly writing workshops in Modern Languages room 204. Kendra Gaines, an instructor from the Writing Skills Improvement Program, will discuss key strategies to overcoming writer's block. Females unite at today's Seventh Annual Women Writers Event sponsored by the UA Women's Studies department. Three surprise female authors will read and discuss their works with the audience in a relaxed atmosphere. All students, faculty and local artists are welcome to participate. Are breathing problems related to recreational asthma keeping you from enjoying simple things such as walking around campus? UA researchers are looking for participants to test the effectiveness of replacing inhaled steroids with inhaled medications for asthma sufferers. Subjects must be over 18 years of age, and compensation will be provided. To help others and join the research project, contact researchers before the end of the month at 626-7091.

The lines between gender, race and religion are blurred by Cristina Cardenas and her art exhibit "A Flor de Piel," debuting in the Fine Arts Complex tonight. The Joseph Gross Gallery exhibition will feature the Latina artist and her large-scale paintings constructed on amate, handmade paper. Cardenas will lecture about her works at 5:30 p.m. beginning with those exhibited in Europe, Mexico and the United States.
