Freshman grabs national residence hall award

James Benedict recognized for commitment to volunteering

A UA freshman who divides his time among school and five extracurricular activities is being recognized for his involvement by a national residence hall organization.

James "J.P." Benedict represents the University of Arizona as the National Residence Hall Honorary student of the month for November.

Benedict, a business freshman, was recognized at Thursday's UA Residence Hall Association meeting. He will be officially acknowledged by the National Residence Hall Honorary at the organization's conference next month in Canada.

"I was surprised at first," said Benedict. "I'm really happy to know people notice the effort and hard work you're putting in."

No injuries reported in early-morning chemical spill

Police, Fire Department called to clean leak in Marvel Building

UA Chemistry Laboratory Manager Seth Ruskin woke up at 5:30 a. m. yesterday to a phone call from TPD informing him of a waste spill in the Marvel Building.

Although no damage was caused and no one was hurt by the spill of liquid nickel organic complexes in dichloromethane, Tucson police and fire departments were on the scene for nearly two hours cleaning up the spill.

SMC defeats Wildcats after big inning

Anderson one bright spot for the Wildcats

The Arizona baseball team was unable to overcome a seven-run fifth inning in a 12-8 loss to Saint Mary's College yesterday at Sancet Field.

The loss snapped the Wildcats' two-game winning streak and dropped their record to 5-3 for the season.

The game was tied 2-2 entering the fifth inning, when the Gaels (1-1) exploded with seven runs on six hits to take a 9-2 lead.

Dance performance show 'Odyssey 2001' comes to Centennial Hall tonight

On a stage typically reserved for big Broadway shows and well-known music performers, members of the UA Dance Ensemble will put on their own lavish event when they perform in the UA production of "Odyssey 2001."
