The No. 12 Arizona gymnastics team takes a break from Pacific 10 Conference competition this weekend, heading to No. 7 Oklahoma Sunday before coming back home Thursday to play host to a quad meet against Minnesota, Northern Illinois and Pac-10 opponent Washington.

Arizona is coming off a loss to intrastate rival Arizona State last Friday (197.850 - 196.700), despite posting the second-best team score in school history. The Wildcats also scored a new school record of 49.475 during the meet against the No. 15 Sun Devils.

Senior captain Randi Liljenquist continued to impress in the match against ASU, once again putting her All-American status on display. Liljenquist won four individual titles during the meet, while posting two school records in the process, a score of 39.775 in the all-around and a perfect 10.000 on the beam.

Freshman Monica Bisordi and Stevie Fanning both set career highs on the bars by scoring identical 9.800 marks against ASU. Freshman Katie Johnson also set a career high against the Sun Devils, posting a 9.900 on beam.

Liljenquist said she sees room for improvement despite last week's high team score.

"Our overall team scores on the beam need work," Liljenquist said. "We did really well overall last week, but we got too high on the last event. Next time we need to just step back, stay consistent and remember our team goals."

Sunday's matchup will be the second time the Wildcats (8-4, 3-3 Pac-10) and Sooners (10-2) have gone head-to-head, with the Gymcats winning the first meeting by a score of 194.650 - 194.425, en route to a victory in the Maui Invitational tournament in Hawaii.

Thursday's meet will also mark the second meeting between Arizona and Washington, with the Wildcats winning the last contest at home by a score of 195.550 - 193.225.

Head Coach Bill Ryden said he sees the match against Oklahoma as another chance to solidify the Wildcats' place in the national rankings while improving in the same areas Liljenquist noticed.

"Oklahoma is very good and a solid competitor," Ryden said. "We are starting to gear up for the postseason and need to solidify our beam effort in the upcoming meets."

The quad meet will be the last home meet of the season for the Gymcats and is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday in McKale Center.
