    Events & Concerts

Looking for different take on the whole "Christ" thing? Go see the Italian film "The Gospel According to Saint Matthew," a satirical yet oddly plausible portrayal of the son of God. It's a great addition to any pastel-laden Easter holiday. The International Arts Society is screening the film Friday night at 7:30 in the Modern Languages Auditorium.

How about some art from the big apple? Today, two New York artists, Stanley Whitney and Marina Adams, will offer a gallery talk and slide lecture entitled ReViewing Abstraction. The presentation will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the UA Museum of Art.

Master P and Slick Rick are rollin' into Tucson amid gold chains and scantily clad women. On Friday, they'll be bustin' out at the Rialto Theatre, 318 E. Congress St., with phat jams and killa rhymin' the likes of which you've neva even seen, boy. Mark your calendar, foo! For more information, call Back Alley Concerts 312-2749.

On Tuesday, Further Seems Forever will play at Nations Hall at MUSE, 516 N. Fifth Ave., at 7 p.m. For those unfamiliar with its sound, the group is loud Christian Emo rock. Hot Rod Circuit and Thrice will be opening and have a hardcore sound that appeals to the loud crowd. Tickets are $9 in advance, $10 at the door. Call 331-3447 for more information.

Do you enjoy working with clay and designing pottery? Io Palmer will teach various surface design techniques this Saturday at Muse, 516 N. Fifth Ave. Now you can turn mere pots into artistic visions!

Anyone who's ever been to a CD release party knows it's usually a blast. The Damnations, an alternative-country band, celebrate the release of their newest album, Where it Lands. Known for stellar live performances, the group presents a mix of cutting-edge and traditional sounds. The party is tomorrow night at 7 Black Cats, 260 E. Congress St.
