ARIZONA DAILY WILDCAT

Wednesday September 5, 2001

Help out your local community and have fun doing it by joining the Alpha Phi Omega co-ed service fraternity. Information sessions are being held throughout the week to outline the fraternity's goals and responsibilities to the Tucson community. For more information on session times and service projects, stop by the Alpha Phi Omega booth on the UA Mall today between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. or contact Jennifer R. Eberle at apo@clubs.arizona.edu.

Feeling stuck somewhere between the beginning of your writing project and the end of the story of your life? If you need the help getting from point A to point B check out Individual Assistance Writing Workshop today at 5 p.m. Kendra Gaines from the Writing Skills Improvement Center will answer any questions you have about writing in general. This workshop is part of a free series held every Wednesday in Modern Languages, Room 310. For more information, call Donna Rabuck at 621-5849.

Grab your quill pen and a steaming cup of java because the Poetry Center Reading Series begins tonight in the Modern Languages auditorium. Gather inspiration from fellow artists as the first faculty reading of the year kicks off with Jonathan Penner at 8 p.m. The night will include a public reading of Penner's most recent works as well as a small reception and discussion session. For more information on this event, call Frances Shoberg at 626-3765.

Do your friends often salute you as you pass by them on campus? Could it be that your leadership skills have somehow lost their effectiveness and you're simply known to your friends as the local drill sergeant? If you're looking to buff up your leadership skills, attend today's workshop, "The Leader in You: Maintaining Peak Performance." Sponsored by the Center of Student Involvement & Leadership, this workshop provides the opportunity to develop practical leadership skills. Tooday's class will be held at 3 p.m. in the Turquoise room of the Park Student Union. For more information, call Matt Helm at 626-4905.

If you are what you eat, you may want to know a little more about what you are putting in your mouth during lunchtime. KAMP student radio and the Nutritional Sciences club bring food for thought to the table on the UA Mall today at 10:30 a.m. Learn about nutritional content and score some free samples as the groups kick off "Eating Well on Campus." For more information, call Sarah at 622-3538.
