Wildcats 0-5 in Pacific 10 Conference

This weekend marked a chance for the UA tennis team to say it is ready to make a push toward the postseason.

However, the Wildcats ran into two roadblocks: No. 2 UCLA and No. 16 Southern California.

The Bruins came out focused and determined not to let Arizona come onto their court and pull the upset.

UCLA shell-shocked Arizona en route to a 0-7 victory.

The loss marked the third time this season that the Wildcats have failed to earn at least one point against an opponent.

With no time to dwell over its defeat against the Bruins, UA traveled across Los Angeles to try to salvage a win against USC.

The Trojans jumped on UA early by winning the doubles point, but Arizona responded.

Senior Steven Capriati bounced back from his recent loss against UCLA to defeat Andrew Park 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Sophomore Carl Hagman pulled off a big upset as he came back to defeat Nick Rainey, who is ranked 27th in the country.

However, those were the only two Wildcats who were able to muster a victory against USC.

Sophomores Whi Kim and Arnaud Agniel, freshman Colin O'Grady and senior Bruno Arapovic all lost their matches in straight sets.

Their two losses over the weekend dropped the Wildcats to 7-8 overall and 0-5 in Pacific 10 Conference play.

UA next takes the court this weekend as it travels to the Pacific Northwest to take on Washington and Oregon.
