Need a ride for groceries? Call the ASUA courtesy shuttle on Sundays to get some grub and personals for the week. The shuttle picks up at Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall at noon, Manzanita-Mohave Residence Hall at 12:30 p.m., La Paz Residence Hall at 1:15 p.m., Arizona-Sonora again at 2 p.m. and Manzanita-Mohave again at 2:45 p.m. Drivers request that you arrive at the pickup spot five minutes early. As women and people of minority status continue to advance in the relatively young age of equal opportunity in the United States, one group planned today as the day to celebrate and congregate. The Black Women's Task Force Conference begins with registration between 7 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. and runs until about 3:45 p.m. "Mirrors of Strength: Reflections of You" is the theme, and the WB's Judge Mathis will be the keynote speaker. The Arizona Daily Star's editorial cartoonist David Fitzsimmons and Colette Marie Sims of the UA Africana Studies department will also speak. Students studying hydrology and water resources will show off their acquired knowledge and presentation skills today during "El Dia del Agua: The Day of the Water." The symposium of oral and poster presentations begins at 7:45 a.m. and concludes with lunch at 12:30 p.m. Early-morning coffee, a mid-morning coffee break and lunch are included in the $25 registration fee. Reservations are required for lunch. The symposium takes place in salons A-C in the Sheraton Four Points Hotel, 1900 E. The Arizona Film Festival 2002 opens today with showings at 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. At 5, check out "The Wide Blue Road," an Italian piece filmed by Gillo Pontecorvo in 1957. It is a political and emotional portrait of coastal life in Italy. At 7, check out "Crooked Earth." A series of short films will be shown at 9:30. Single tickets may be purchased one hour before each program at the box office at the Grand Cinemas Crossroads Festival, 4811 E. Grant Rd. All movies today take place at that theater.
