Another student was arrested yesterday in connection with a string of burglaries that occurred over a one-month period in a campus building, UAPD officials said.
Anthony N. Oglesby, an astronomy freshman, was arrested yesterday morning by University of Arizona Police Department officers on charges of third-degree burglary, theft and interfering with an educational institution.
He was identified as one of the two suspects named in the theft of more than $10,000 in equipment from the fifth floor of the Physics and Atmospheric Sciences building, 1118 E. Fourth St., said UAPD Sgt. Mike Smith.
Both Oglesby and the other suspect, astronomy freshman Nikolas M. Thompson, were identified by many members of the campus community after pictures taken from a surveillance camera were published in the Arizona Daily Wildcat.
The photographs showed Oglesby and Thompson opening office doors on the fifth floor with a key and taking an aluminum briefcase that held a camera. The two also reportedly took a yellow jigsaw and a computer mouse.
On March 28, more than $9,000 worth of equipment was stolen from the building, including a laptop computer, an LCD projector and a video camera.
On March 4, the two allegedly took a CD drive, memory card, sound card and a computer speaker system.
Thompson, who was arrested Wednesday, was released from Pima County Jail on bail last week.
He declined to comment on the matter.
Oglesby was booked into Pima County Jail, where bail has not yet been set.
