After two rounds of the Pacific 10 Conference Women's Golf Championships, the Wildcats still remain in the lead, hoping to pull off the three-peat heading into today's final rounds.

It is no surprise that leading the way for the Wildcats is sophomore Lorena Ochoa. Ochoa is locked in a tie for second place with a 1-over-par score. Ochoa, who is two strokes behind leader Yvonne Choe of UCLA, struggled to close out the day, but Arizona managed to hold on to the lead.

Arizona opened up a 17-stroke advantage but was unable to keep it. Head coach Greg Allen said the back nine was brutal for the Wildcats, and second place UCLA was able to creep to within three strokes.

"We just got on the wrong side of the momentum," Allen said. "We played so well as a team for 13 holes. Then, the tides just turned and we let it slip away. We're disappointed that we didn't finish well, but we are still in position to win this thing tomorrow."

Though UCLA might have the momentum heading into tomorrow, Arizona has two golfers in contention for the individual title.

After seven straight tournament victories, Ochoa is not going to let her strong hold on the women's golf world go by the wayside after a poor performance to close out the day, Allen said.

"Lorena certainly proved she's human today," Allen said. "Shooting 6-over-par on the final six holes will only make her hungrier to come out tomorrow and tackle this course again. She will bounce back from today's round."

Junior Laura Myerscough has positioned herself in the mix of things with consistent play. Myerscough was one-over-par on the day, moving her into a tie for fourth place, just one shot behind Ochoa.

Tournament action concludes today, as final-round play commences with 8 a.m. tee times.
