The Arizona Board of Regents yesterday announced the tuition increase for next year, setting it at 4 percent, or $92, for in-state student and 7.3 percent, or $750, for out-of-state students. The Wildcat asked students how they felt about the increase.

Shana Tulin-Silver
family studies senior

ăI donât like it, but I am from Michigan, and Michigan schools are a lot more expensive. I do think itâs okay to increase tuition the least amount possible to compete with other schools.ä

Joe Burg
media arts freshman

ăItâs better than 12 percent. But, any increase is problematic for anyone who has to pay their own tuition, like me.ä

Debra Sheets
senior major in English

ăI think itâs absolutely necessary. The percentage should have been differentiated more evenly between in-state and out-of-state. But, I think funding is more important than saving on tuition.ä

Joseph Devereaux
computer science junior

ăI understand when looking at other universities, like in California, the in-state tuition is much higher there than it is here.ä

Cortine Short
physiology graduate student

ăI wouldnât really mind paying because itâs probably going to improve things, so $100 isnât such a big deal.
