Arizona Daily Wildcat
Wednesday May 1, 2002
This is it. Itâs the last day of regular classes and the last issue of the Arizona Daily Wildcat until the Commencement edition. That means we all need to stand up, stretch and thank God for another school year come and gone. Have a great summer and congratulations to the graduating seniors. For all interested parties, and those saddened by a lack of Catcall action, the Wildcat will return in early June in the form of the Arizona Summer Wildcat.
The Navy Reserve Officers Training Corps will be up at the crack of dawn to usher in next yearâs students in command. The Change of Command Ceremony and Parade will take place from 6:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. on the west side of the UA Mall. For more information, contact Bob Moore at 626-5774.
What better way to end a school year than by discussing ecology and life science. Stop by the second floor of the Institute for the Study of Planet Earth, 715 N. Park Ave., to join the Tree-Ring Talk. Nathan L. Stevenson of the United States Geological Survey, biological resources division, will present ãPredicting the Effects of Global Changes on Vegetation: How Good are our Assumptions?ä The lecture runs from noon to 1 p.m. For more information, contact Jackie Mather at 621-1608 or e-mail her at jmather@ltrr.arizona.edu.
Weâve established that today is the last day of classes. For some students, that means itâs time to rest or party for finals week. The French and Italian Film Series knows no rest, however, and will present ãDelicatessenä this evening. Stop by the Modern Languages building, Room 411, at 5 p.m. to catch the flick. The movie should run about two hours. For more information, call Katy Ferreira at 621-7349, e-mail her at katyf@u.arizona.edu or visit the Web site at http://www.coh.arizona.edu/pal/forumfrancais/filmsp2002.htm.
The School of Music and Dance also wants to go out with a bang. Stop by Crowder Hall at 7:30 p.m., and bring $8 if you are a member of the general public, $6 if you work for UA or are older than 55, and $4 if you are as student. The Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble will be waiting for you, and they will show off the skills they learned this year. For more information, call the Fine Arts Box Office at 621-1162 or visit the Web site at http://www.arts.arizona.edu/music.
