UAPD notified the Secret Service Tuesday after an employee reported receiving a suspicious e-mail, reports stated.
Police met with the employee of the Center for Creative Photography, 1030 N. Olive Ave., who showed them the e-mail, which the recipient claimed was sent from South Africa.
The sender, who identified himself as Hassan Bello, offered to split $126 million with an "honest foreigner" if the employee would set up a bank account.
The employee said he thought the offer was probably a scam but wanted to contact police in light of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, reports stated. The e-mail was similar to others that the University of Arizona Police Department had been forwarding to the Tucson office of the Secret Service for further investigation.
The employee said he had no knowledge of why he was e-mailed and will not respond to it.
A Parking and Transportation Services employee called UAPD Tuesday evening after a student with a stolen parking permit came into the PTS office, reports stated.
Wilson Chan, 19, of the 7200 block of North Village Avenue, entered the PTS office after his car was booted for displaying a stolen permit.
After meeting with the employee, police met with Chan, who was waiting in the lobby. He identified himself with a valid Arizona driver's license; then, police read him his Miranda rights, which Chan said he understood and waived, reports stated.
Chan told the officer he had found the permit on the ground of the parking lot on Saturday. He said he used it for two days before he was cited. He told police he was aware that permits were not freely given away, and that he had not read the warnings against use by a non-registered owner.
He did acknowledge that he knew it was someone else's property, but denied any knowledge of the original theft of the permit, reports stated.
Police told Chan he could be charged with a misdemeanor for possession of a stolen permit, but referred him to the Dean of Students Diversion program instead of arresting or citing him. Chan also agreed to pay all applicable parking citations and fines.
Two UA students were cited for alcohol possession Friday morning after a Tucson Police Department officer stopped them for throwing things from a parking garage, reports stated.
UAPD responded to the Tyndall Avenue Garage, 880 E. Fourth St., after TPD requested assistance. The TPD officer had seen one of the four people throwing things from the southeast stairwell of the third floor of the garage and detained three of them prior to the UAPD officer's arrival.
The UAPD officer spoke with two of the people and determined they had been drinking. Adam Lee Williams Ortega, 18, of the 800 block of East Fifth Street, admitted to drinking three cans of beer, and Jordan Samuel Schneiderman, 18, also of the 800 block of East Fifth Street, admitted to drinking two cans, reports stated.
Both also smelled of alcohol and had red eyes. UAPD cited and released both students. UAPD officers did not talk with the third student, who was under TPD control.
Four students were arrested for possession of marijuana in a UA apartment Monday morning, reports stated.
Officers arrived at Skyview Apartments, 1050 E. Eighth St., in response to a possible drug violation. They spoke with the resident assistant, who said he could smell burning marijuana coming from a room.
Police knocked on the door, and were allowed in by a student who then told officers he and some of his friends had been smoking marijuana in the bedroom, reports stated.
Aaron Sanchez, 19, led officers to his bedroom, where four other students were already inside. Sanchez gave officers a white bucket containing a green, leafy substance they suspected to be marijuana. Another student gave officers a glass water pipe with marijuana residue inside.
Officers spoke with residents Jacob Levy, 18, and Andrew Peggs, 19, who allowed them to search the room. They did not discover any additional drugs.
Officers arrested Levy, Peggs, Sanchez, Donald G. Sanford, 18, and Christopher P. Sparks, 18 for unlawful use of marijuana. Peggs was also arrested for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Two other people were in the apartment, but were not smoking marijuana and were not cited.
All suspects were cited and released at the scene.
