Shooting damages parking garage; no injuries reported
An on-campus drive-by shooting early Friday morning damaged a parking garage, said UAPD Cmdr. Brian Seastone.
The shooting occurred near Tyndall Avenue Garage, 880 E. Tyndall Ave., at approximately 1:30 a.m. No one was injured in the incident.
A University of Arizona student told police she was walking southbound on North Tyndall Avenue when she heard a series of "bangs" coming from within the garage. Seastone said eight shell casings were later found in the garage.
Thinking nothing of the incident, the student said she continued walking toward Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St.
She then said she saw two Hispanic males run from the garage, heading northwest. She said they appeared to be 18-20 years old.
The student told police the men fired two shots. She hid behind a cement pillar in the garage because she thought the men were shooting at her. When she emerged from behind the blocks, the men were gone, reports stated.
The student said she then saw the two men driving an old, blue sports car westbound out of the garage.
Seastone said the garage sustained some damage as a result of the shooting.
There are no suspects at this time. Police attempted to locate the vehicle but were unable to do so.
