Craving some culture on campus? Head down to the Modern Languages Auditorium at 7:30 pm Friday to see this week's installment of the International Arts Society Film program. "The Collector (La Collectionneuse)" is director Eric Rohmer's story of desire vs. morality in St. Tropez, France.

This week, the Old Pueblo Playwrights present the 12th annual New Play Festival at the Temple of Music and Art, 330 S. Scott Ave. In addition to world premieres of performances authored by Southern Arizonans, the festival will be featuring the premiere of "Play in a Day," a performance of short (read: not lasting 24 hours) plays that will go from conception to production in less than a day. The festival is tomorrow and Friday at 7:30 p.m., and the "Play in a Day" performance is on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door.

"Come experience community dancing that takes you back to the historical log-cabin dance form but still lights a fire under (the) dancing feet of today," invites the Tucson Friends of Traditional Music. Their Contra and Square Dance will feature energetic dancing in a non-smoking, non-drinking social atmosphere on Saturday from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m at the United Methodist Church at 915 E. Fourth St. New or experienced singles or partners are welcome. General admission is $7 and TFTM members get in for $6. Come for the first time and dance free on your next visit! The President's Concert, a presentation of the School of Music and Dance in the College of Fine Arts, will grace Crowder Hall this weekend. The concert is the end result of the school's prestigious concerto competition and will feature performances of Lizst, Beethoven and Puccini. Performances are Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $12 general, $10 for UA employees and senior citizens and $8 for students. For more information, call 621-1162.

Minstrels at University Medical Center. Who could ask for more? Find out Tuesday at noon when the Street Minstrels play classical, pop and ethnic music at UMC's DuVal Auditorium 1501 N. Campbell Ave. Admission is free.
