'Cats pluck pesky Ducks with late run
For the first 30 minutes of Saturday's game, the backcourt duo of James Davis and Luke Ridnour had Oregon looking like both a national contender and a challenger of Arizona for the Pacific-10 Conference title.
That changed midway through the second half as the Wildcats (25-2, 17-1 Pac-10) proved why they are the nation's top-ranked team by closing out the Ducks (20-9, 10-8) 88-80.
Ridnour and Davis combined for 21 of Oregon's 38 first-half points, compared to just six for UA guards Jason Gardner and Salim Stoudamire.

Analysis: Gardner takes center stage one more time
Hollywood couldn't have done it any better.
Playing in his last game at McKale, Jason Gardner put on a performance that could garner some Oscar votes, or at least some for Pacific-10 Conference Player of the Year.
He outshined the villain (Oregon PG Luke Ridnour), got the girl in the end (his mom Stephanie) and was again the biggest hero when the rest of his supporting cast needed him the most.

Hoops trio of seniors honored as MVPs
After stealing the show last year with his guitar, Rick Anderson was at a loss for words at last night's awards banquet in the Westin La Paloma's banquet room.
First off, he lost his voice and could barely speak, struggling with a short song he wrote.
Second, his road roommate John Castles, the team's video manager, made a video montage of Anderson's Top 10 UA moments. The video was highlighted by Anderson's air-balled free throw at Stanford and an "Eiffel Tower" victory dance celebration in the locker room.

Softball sweeps in Texas
The Arizona softball team kept its 11-game winning streak alive, shutting out all five teams it faced in the Red Raider Classic over the weekend.
The Wildcats' 11-game shutout record remained alive after it clinched a 1-0 victory over Texas Tech yesterday.
The win may not have been as offensively powered as their other four victories, but it put another mark in the winning column.

Northern California schools sweep Men's Tennis
The Pacific-10 Conference's Bay Area contingent swept into Tucson this weekend, leaving the Arizona men's tennis team with two conference losses while extending the squad's losing streak.

Gymnastics wraps up Pac-10 dual meets with highest road mark of the season
Despite falls on each event and nagging injuries, the gymnastics team posted its highest road score of the season in a 196.800 - 195.800 loss at No. 22 California.
