The Arizona men's golf team broke its impressive spring start with a seventh-place finish in last weekend's Toyota Men's Golf Collegiate Championship.
After posting the best second round score (282) of any team in the tournament, the Wildcats faltered Sunday with their worst score of the tournament and dropped from fourth place to seventh.
Junior Chris Nallen was the only UA golfer in the top 30 with rounds of (70, 70, 73 = 213). Nallen posted his seventh top 20 finish of the year with a tie for 14th place in Las Vegas.
The tournament included the strongest field of the year, with four of the top five teams in the country.
No. 3-ranked Oklahoma State walked away with the team trophy, while Ryan Moore of UNLV took individual honors after three rounds under-par (71, 70, 67 = 208).
After coming off a top 20 finish at the PGA tour Chrysler Classic of Tucson, reigning U.S. Amateur Ricky Barnes shot a final round 75 to drop him into a tie for 34th place.
No other Arizona golfer finished in the top 40, leaving the Wildcats with their first loss of the spring season.
UA will prepare for action in two weeks at the Oregon Duck Invitational March 24-25.
