ANAHEIM, Calif. ÷ The Notre Dame basketball team adopted the motto and has used it the entire season.

If the 3-point shot drops, great; if not, keep shooting it and don't look back.

"The 3-ball is a huge part of our offense," Fighting Irish head coach Mike Brey said. "We want to shoot the ball and shoot it confidently."

It's no secret that when Notre Dame takes on No. 1 seed Arizona today at 4:27 p.m. PST in the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim that it will be firing from long range early and often. [Read article]

ANAHEIM, Calif. ÷ UA was able to shoot around at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim for 50 minutes yesterday, but many Arizona players are already familiar with the surroundings.

Some of those memories are good, some bad for UA, which holds a 3-1 mark in the Pond.

The only loss came to Utah on March 21, 1998, when the Utes shocked the No. 1 seeded Wildcats in the West Regional Final, 76-51.

"You have to be mentally prepared to play wherever you are," UA senior Rick Anderson said. "I love shooting there." [Read article]

The Arizona women's tennis team came out yesterday hoping to repeat its last performance against No. 7 Arizona State, but it was not to be as poor play led to a 5-1 beating at the hands of the Sun Devils.

A month ago, the Wildcats had hopes of taking down ASU after they started their match, but rain forced a premature conclusion with UA leading 2-1 ÷ up one set in two matches and close in the other. [Read article]

Rugby looks to earn title share

The men's rugby team will be seeking a little more than bragging rights in its annual tilt with Arizona State, with a win clinching a share of the conference title.

If the So Cal Rugby Conference championship were shared, the Wildcats (9-4, 6-1) would still lose out to Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara. The top two teams earn berths in the national tournament, meaning Arizona is on the outside looking in. [Read article]

Lebron, UA recruits among prep all-stars

LeBron James was content to simply be a high school All-Star last night.

The 18-year-old high school senior, an almost-certain No. 1 pick in this summer's NBA draft, scored 27 points in leading the East to a 122-107 victory over the West in the 26th annual McDonald's All-American high school basketball game.

High school seniors Ndubi Ebi and Mustafa Shakur, both of whom have signed to play for Arizona starting in the fall, each started the game, with each making their own mark on the stat sheet while in limited playing time. [Read article]
