The resident led the responding officers into her own apartment so they could smell a vent that was connected to the apartment from which the smoke was coming. The officers then went to the door of the room and detected a faint odor of marijuana, reports stated.
The officers knocked on the door and asked to come in. The resident was hesitant and initially demanded a search warrant. But officers assured him they only wanted to talk, and he let them in, reports stated.
The resident asked if the officers came because of the smell, and they said they had. He then told them he had been burning incense and that they could look around if they wanted to, reports stated.
One of the officers found a baggie filled with a green, leafy substance on a shelf in the pantry. The baggie was hidden inside an empty six-pack of beer container, reports stated. There was also a pile of a loose, green and leafy substance in an empty beer container on a higher shelf.
