Commentary: Softball can thank fabulous freshmen

You can't have one without the other. Nothing is worse for a pitcher than tossing a gem, and getting little to no run support.

On the other side, when the sticks are crackin' and a pitcher can't get one to cross the plate, pulling out W's gets more difficult.

This season the Wildcat softball team is winning as usual, but the ingredients for success are a bit different than past victorious recipes. [Read article]

Lovie leading and lovin' it

Senior shortstop Lovie Jung is no stranger to success.

Jung was named the Pac-10 Player of the Week for March 24-30 öö her second so far this season öö in which she recorded a .750 batting average that included five runs, six hits and three RBIs.

After the weekend sweep over the Huskies and Bruins, the UA senior currently leads the Pac-10 Conference with 20 homeruns. [Read article]

Women's tennis takes on Texas

Coming off a strong weekend split in Washington, the UA women's tennis takes the court today to face off in an out of conference matchup against the Texas Longhorns.

After claiming their first Pacific-10 Conference win of the season against the No. 42 Cougars of Washington State on Friday, the Wildcats' bid to upset the No.9 Huskies of Washington fell short as Arizona lost 5-2.

Texas will begin a tour of Arizona on Tuesday and Wednesday to face the Wildcats and Sun Devils. The Longhorns, 8-9 on the season and 7-1 in the Big Ten, are coming off a narrow defeat at the hands of No. 4 Duke over the weekend. [Read article]
