Four bottles of water were stolen from a refrigerator at the El Saguarita Food Stand, 1401 E. University Blvd., Monday, reports stated.

An employee at the stand called police after making the discovery. The employee also noticed that some letters on a menu sign were also missing, reports stated.

There was no sign of forced entry, but police noted that someone could have entered the stand by crawling under the tent.

The employee told police the stand had problems before with "homeless people living there on the weekends," reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


An employee at the University Services building, 888 N. Euclid Ave., called police Monday after she received a suspicious phone call from a man who said he was conducting a survey on human sexuality, reports stated.

The man said he was conducting the survey on behalf of Columbia University. Then he asked the female employ about her marital status and began making lewd comments. He told her he was masturbating, reports stated.

The man hung up after the employee handed the phone to a male co-worker.

The employee told police that the man had called on previous occasions and gave them the number that showed up on her called ID, reports stated.


A UA student notified police Monday after discovering that a $16,000 check written to him was counterfeit, reports stated.

The student told police he was selling his Ford F-150, and received the check from what he thought was an interested buyer, reports stated.

When the student went to cash the check, his bank told him it was counterfeit, reports stated. The person who wrote the check never had possession of the vehicle

The check was taken into evidence.


A UA vehicle was stolen from a parking lot outside Babcock Inn, 1717 E. Speedway Blvd., Monday, reports stated.

The white Buick Century was found later that day in a wash at 727 S. Park Ave. by a Tucson Police officer. The driver side window was smashed and the steering wheel was cracked, reports stated.

The vehicle was brought back to campus for repairs.


A UA student was arrested on charges of possessing spirituous liquor as a minor Monday, reports stated.

A resident assistant at Babcock Inn, 1717 E. Speedway Blvd., called police after the student argued with him and harassed a female in the parking lot, reports stated.

The RA told police the student had a bottle of beer and became very argumentative when the RA told him to throw it out, reports stated.

The student appeared intoxicated and was uncooperative with police when they questioned him. He was placed in handcuffs by officers who were concerned for their own safety, reports stated.

After the student was placed in the back of a patrol car, he reportedly began kicking the front passenger seat.

He was taken to Pima County Jail.


Three parking meters were stolen from a parking lot at 1015 E. Helen St., Monday, reports stated.

A UA employee told police that it appeared someone had cut the metal pipes holding the meters in place with a pipe cutter.

Police noticed that a fourth pole was also damaged, but not taken.

The employee estimated that there was a total of $10 in the three stolen meters, reports stated.

It costs $3.50 to replace the three meters, and $20 to replace the poles, reports stated.

Police do not have any suspects or witnesses.


A UA Police officer found a bag full of hypodermic needles and an Arizona Department of Corrections identification card in a wash behind Skyview Apartments, 1050 E. Eight St., Monday, reports stated.

The officer was performing a routine check of the wash, checking it for suspicious activity or evidence of a recent theft, when he discovered several pieces of soiled clothing, a soiled blanket, a candle, the ID and a Ziploc bag full of needles, reports stated.

Many of the needles were bent and smashed.

The ID was traced back to a man that was wanted on a parole violation, reports stated.
