photo Arizona looks for third straight win over ASU

The No. 1 Arizona softball team will try to show its rival, No. 12 ASU, that it's just as strong the third time around when it travels to Sun Devil territory tonight.

Arizona (10-1), the Pacific-10 Conference leader, jumped ahead of second place UCLA (8-3) by two games after it swept the Sun Devils in last weekend's two-game, in-state rivalry at UA's Rita Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium.

The tables will turn as the Wildcats (41-4) take on ASU for the last time this season. After drawing a season-high record of 2811 fans last weekend, the Wildcats won't have that same comfort tonight. [Read article]

Super sophomore travels to Nebraska to represent Arizona in All-Around and Beam events at the 2003 NCAA Championships

Somewhat ironically, as a superstar who cares more for the team than her own stats, sophomore Gymcat Monica Bisordi is heading to the national championships öö alone.

However, there is no doubt she is still thinking about her teammates back in Tucson.

Tomorrow Bisordi, a San Mateo, Calif. native, competes as the No. 7 seed in the all-around in the second session, rotating with Auburn, of the 2003 NCAA Championships, in Lincoln, Nebraska. The top four individuals in each of the two sessions in each even move on to the finals on Saturday. [Read article]

Game Analysis: Anatomy of a title in place

However, that is not one of the most important factors in the top-ranked Wildcats' quest for the title.

As any coach will tell you, it's the postseason that matters most. Even if the Wildcats were to lose all six road games, they would still enter the postseason as a feared, championship-caliber team. [Read article]

photo Laxcats look for a little luck

Weekend loss to UCSB could keep Arizona out of national tournament

After bowing out in the quarterfinals of the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League playoffs at No. 3 UC Santa Barbara, the UA men's lacrosse team is now hoping for a little bit of luck to get into the national tournament.

The No. 14 Laxcats (9-8, 4-4) couldn't overcome an early Gaucho run, falling 10-5 to the team with the most first place votes in the USLIA. UCSB (16-1, 7-1) improved to 9-0 this year at home. [Read article]
