UAPD helped Tucson police arrest a man who tried to escape custody after officers broke up a party north of campus.

When UAPD arrived at the party on the 1500 block of North Tyndall Avenue, one officer noticed a TPD officer struggling with a man who was resisting being put in handcuffs.

The UAPD officer helped handcuff the man and placed him in the back of a TPD squad car. He then proceeded to help clear out the house party but was distracted when he heard several car doors slam, reports stated.

The officer returned to the squad car to check on the man but found that he was missing. The officer then ran over to a green Honda Accord that was parked across the street, shone his flashlight through the windows and found the man in the back seat, reports stated.

After the officer opened the door and took the keys away from the driver, the man got out of the vehicle and began running northbound on Tyndall.

Police apprehended the man after he fell down twice, and secured him in the back of the squad car again, reports stated.

TPD detained both the man and the driver of the Accord.


Library employees reported a DVD/CDR combo disk drive stolen from a computer tower located on the third floor of the UA Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd., Wednesday, reports stated.

An employee noticed that the drive was missing after observing that the computer was turned off early Wednesday morning.

The employee told police that the drive must have been stolen sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, reports stated.

The disk drive was valued at $200, reports stated.

There was no other damage to the computer.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


A bicycle was stolen from a rack on the west side of the Education building, 1430 E. Second St. Wednesday morning, reports stated.

The bicycle, valued at $250, was secured with a cable lock around 7 a.m., and was stolen sometime within the next four hours, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


Police were alerted to a vehicle that had been broken into in the parking lot outside the Esquire Apartments, 1230 N. Park Ave., early Sunday morning, reports stated.

The passenger window of the vehicle had been smashed by a volleyball-sized rock, reports stated.

The glove box had been opened, but the officer could not find any other damage to the vehicle, reports stated.

The officer could not locate the owner of the vehicle, and police have no suspects or witnesses at this time.


A man was cited for giving false information to police at UAPD headquarters, 1852 E. First St., Saturday night, reports stated.

Police found the man hiding in some bushes on the west side of the building, reports stated. After police yelled at him, the man came out of the bushes and gave officers his name, stating that he had no identification on him.

The man then became angry and began to yell obscenities at the officers. When he refused to sit down and obey the officers' commands, he was handcuffed.

Police then searched the man and found a wallet containing a different ID than the man had given earlier, reports stated.

After being warned against trespassing, the man was cited and released.


Police responded to the Steward Observatory, 933 N. Cherry Ave., after a former student employee sent a worker several suspicious e-mails, reports stated.

The former student employee had been terminated due to poor job performance, reports stated.

According to reports, the former student employee made no direct threats to any person in the office.

The employee who called police said he did not believe that the former employee was a threat, and that he merely wanted the event documented, reports stated.

The employee said he had contacted the Dean of Students Office, which was investigating the matter, reports stated.


A woman damaged her vehicle Friday after backing into a telephone pole in the parking lot on the north side of the Esquire Apartments, 1230 N. Park Ave., reports stated.

After backing into the telephone pole, the women drove forward over a concrete parking block and into the metal security bars on one of the building's windows, reports stated.

The woman, whose airbags deployed in the collision, sustained no injuries.
