A man's stereo and speakers were stolen from his pickup truck Saturday after he parked the car on the second floor of the Main Gate Garage, 815 E. Second St., reports stated.

The man told police his passenger-side window had been smashed between 10 a.m., when he parked and locked the vehicle, and 3:30 p.m., when he returned. Police have no suspects or witnesses at this time.


A man's bike was stolen from the University Medical Center Emergency Parking Garage, 1501 N. Campbell Ave., after he locked his bike with two chains Saturday, reports stated. The $300 bike was reported stolen after the man returned to the garage around 6 p.m., reports stated. The man could not provide a serial number for the bike, and police have no suspects or witnesses at this time, reports stated.


A drunk driver was arrested near the intersection of East Sixth Street and North First Avenue early Thursday morning after refusing to submit to a Breathalyzer test, reports stated.

The man, Adrian Romaine Byrd of the 1000 block of West Simmons Boulevard, was pulled over for driving 50 mph in a 25-mph zone, reports stated.

Byrd failed a field sobriety check after officers detected the presence of alcohol, reports stated.

Byrd was placed under arrest and transported to UAPD Headquarters after refusing to take the Breathalyzer, reports stated.

A warrant was issued to conduct blood tests on Byrd shortly after he arrived, and he was transported to UMC for the test, reports stated.

The man was cited and released for driving under the influence.


A rock was thrown through an office window of the South Hall/ROTC building, 1042 E. South Campus Drive, sometime last Wednesday night, reports stated.

The rock broke the window and damaged a phone and desk in the office, reports stated.

The employee whose office was vandalized noticed broken glass and the rock on the floor shortly after arriving at 6 a.m. Thursday morning, reports stated.

Police currently have no suspects or witnesses.


Over $1,200 in electronics was stolen from the Tennis Center Lounge, 902 N. Martin Ave., during an unknown time frame, reports stated.

An employee notified police last Wednesday after discovering that a TV and VCR had been stolen from the lounge, reports stated.

The stand that the TV was on was also damaged, but the entrance to the lounge did not appear to be damaged, reports stated.

The employee said several coaches, managers and players know the combination to the keypad that unlocks the door, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


A man was arrested early Thursday morning near the intersection of East Speedway Boulevard and North Campbell Avenue after police noticed he appeared intoxicated, reports stated.

The man, Larry Edward Bethley of the 4000 block of E. Fifth St., was questioned after police saw him staggering, reports stated.

A records check showed a TPD warrant out for Bethley's arrest for failing to appear on a shoplifting charge, reports stated.

Bethley was arrested and transported to Pima County Jail.


A passport of a foreign student from the People's Republic of China was turned over to police Thursday at the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Boulevard, by an employee at the information center, reports stated.

A records check showed two students matching the ID of the passport, reports stated.

Police attempted to contact both by telephone, but were unsuccessful, reports stated.

Police retained the passport as evidence.


A man contacted police after an eBay purchase of a laptop fell through last Wednesday, reports stated.

The man, who works in the Harshbarger/Mines building, 1235 E. North Campus Drive, told police he spent $950 on a Macintosh notebook that he never received from a seller located in Madrid, Spain, reports stated.

The money was stolen from a Western Union account after the man sent an e-mail to the seller with the confirmation number of the account and his sister's username in order to show proof that the man had the money, reports stated.

The man then received e-mail from Western Union that said his sister had removed the money, reports stated.

The man contacted his sister, who said she had not taken the money, reports stated.

The man sent several e-mails to the seller of the laptop, but received no reply, reports stated.

Officers contacted eBay Fraud Investigations, who said that if the money had gone overseas, there was very little chance of getting it back, reports stated.
