Fighting the dense fog, the Arizona women's golf team shot the lowest team score yesterday with a 10-over par 298 in the 2002 NCAA Preview.
The score put the Wildcats in a tie for third place with Duke at 21-over for the tournament. Oklahoma State is the leader with 13-over par.
"I'm really impressed with the way our golfers hung in there today," UA head coach Greg Allen said. "Their effort did not go to waste. We're right where we want to be ÷ in striking distance heading into the final round."
Also, UA sophomore Miriam Kraschinski, who is a native of Whitianga, New Zealand, carded the lowest individual score of the day with a two-under 70. It was her career best performance and put her in a tie for third overall.
"Miriam did great with a 70," Allen said. "We came to win."
The tournament is stacked with talent as nine of the top-10 individual players in the nation are competing in the Preview.
The second-round yesterday was delayed and hour and a half due to fog.
The tournament concludes today with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
