Stolen beads

Police have not found the person who stole a string of football shaped beads from a campus cubicle Sept. 24, reports stated.

Employees at the Main Gate Center, 888 N. Euclid Ave. told officers they hung up the beads for spirit week and they were stolen between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m., reports stated.

There are no suspects and no witnesses.

Minor in possession of alcohol

An 18-year-old student was placed in the diversion program Tuesday night after police found her holding a trash can while lying in a residence hall bed, reports stated.

A resident assistant at the Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 922 E. Fifth St., told police that he was concerned because a resident was drunk and about to pass out in her bed, reports stated.

Police entered the student's room and saw her lying on the top bunk holding the wastebasket.

They noticed that the woman had red and glossy eyes, had slurred speech and had trouble staying awake, reports stated.

The woman's friend told officers the student had drunk two large glasses of rum and coke and a "bunch of shots," reports stated.

The students said they were drinking at a nearby party, but they couldn't remember the exact location or who was hosting the party, reports stated.

"I'm sorry, I usually don't drink this much. I'm never gonna drink this much again," the resident told police.

The resident's friend denied drinking any alcohol. Officers noticed no signs that the woman's friend had been drinking alcohol, reports stated.

Emergency medical employees arrived at the residence hall and determined she didn't need medical treatment at that time, reports stated.

The student was placed into the UA diversion program on suspicion of drinking alcohol underage, reports stated.

The woman's friend told police she would stay with her that night, reports stated.

Harassment

A Tucson man was arrested after he was seen harassing woman Tuesday inside a campus building, reports stated.

A UA student told police that the 23-year-old man was approaching females and making them feel uncomfortable. She said she was also harassed by the man, reports stated.

When she pointed out the man, he was talking to other females inside the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd., reports stated.

Officers recognized the man from past loitering incidents and believed he had a history of going onto the UA campus and using overly aggressive tactics to get acquainted with female students. Police believe he has touched, kissed and gotten too close to females while trying to get to know them, reports stated.

He was arrested and taken to Pima County Jail on suspicion of disturbing an educational institution, harassment, loitering and assault, reports stated.

Fight in library

A fight broke out in a library study room Tuesday morning, reports stated.

Employees at the Arizona Health-Sciences Library, 1501 N. Campbell Ave., told police four males were inside the second floor room when two men started to fight, reports stated.

All of the men left the room after the fight ended.

The employees gave descriptions of two of the men, but said they would be unable to identify any of them.

One employee was able to identify one of the males because the male had borrowed a book from the reference desk prior to the confrontation, reports stated.

His name and phone number were turned over to police.

Officers searched the area looking for men that matched the combatants' description, but they were unsuccessful.

Attempted break-in

Two students saw a man trying to break into a car parked on campus Tuesday afternoon, reports stated.

The students said they were near the parking lot outside of the Student Recreation Center, 1420 E. Seventh St., when they saw a man leaning into a car that had a broken window, reports stated.

When the man saw the students he jumped into the passenger seat of another car and sped away toward North Campbell Avenue, reports stated.

Police were unable to find the man.

The owner of the vehicle, and a UA employee told police their cars had been broken into that day.

Nothing was stolen from the student's car, but some CDs were taken from the employee's vehicle.
