Volleyball looks for revenge at ĪMadness'
Before the high-flying Wildcat men's and women's basketball teams take to the court at midnight, there is some unfinished business between the No. 20 Arizona volleyball team and defending nation champion and fourth-ranked Stanford.
The Cardinal swept the Wildcats last season, but Arizona has history on its side, as it is 3-0 when playing as the prelude to "Midnight Madness."

Fall Classic kicks off year for softball
The Wildcat softball team takes the field starting today when it hosts the Arizona Fall Classic at Rita Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium. The exhibition tournament is the team's first action since losing to California in the NCAA Championship game last spring.
Arizona starts the series off with back-to-back games today, at noon against New Mexico Highlands, and at 2 p.m. against Arizona Western. Tomorrow, Arizona squares off against New Mexico at 5 p.m. and Central Arizona at 7 p.m. In the final day, UA takes on Cypress Community College at 3 p.m. and Pima Community College at 5 p.m.

Wildcat Cross Country Faces Several Conference Rivals at ASU Invite
The UA men's and women's cross country teams will make the short drive up to Gilbert for the ASU Invitational today. The Wildcats will see conference rivals Stanford and event host Arizona State. Also competing will be BYU, Northern Arizona and several junior colleges.
"This week will be a bigger meet for us than we had expected," UA head coach James Li said. "For most of our runners, it will be good to have them compete against some of the tough teams that will be there."

For those of you suffering from that post-World Cup hangover, your men's soccer needs have been answered.
This weekend the Arizona men's club soccer team looks to extend its unbeaten season to 10-0 when they take on Thunderbird International Business College and archrival Arizona State in Tempe. UA will be one of six teams competing tomorrow and Sunday in the South Western Conference Tournament hosted by Arizona State University.
Arizona is currently No. 2 in the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association, (NIRSA).

Tonight the Arizona soccer team takes I-10 north to a place sometimes referred to as hell, but known to the cartographer as Tempe, where it will open the Pacific 10 season.
Webster's definition of jinx is "one that brings bad luck," which is exactly what Arizona State (7-1-2) has held over the Wildcats (5-4-1) for the last seven meetings between the two.
ASU, ranked 16th by Soccer America but unranked by the NSCAA Coaches Poll, is on a six-game winning streak that has only allowed one goal, and moreover the Sun Devil defense has let up only six goals all season.
