Football Notes: Same old story for UA
For the third time in three years, the Wildcats made the trip up to Washington and were unable to hold on to a fourth-quarter lead.
"This is three times in a row," said senior linebacker Lance Briggs. "Three times in a row, same stadium. Same quarter."
Last year, Washington junior quarterback Cody Pickett scored the go-ahead touchdown with 13 seconds left to give the Huskies a 31-28 win.
This year, it was sophomore receiver Reggie Williams that caught an 80-yard slant that sealed the Wildcats' fate.

Freshmen provide late-night highlights
Arnold performs for largest-ever crowd at ÎMidnight Madness'
On a night that was supposed to showcase the three senior captains for the nation's No. 1 basketball team, two freshmen stole the show.
Freshmen Hassan Adams and Andre Iguodala overwhelmed a nearly filled McKale Center Friday night during "Midnight Madness" in the slam-dunk contest and the full-court scrimmage.
In his first real scrimmage as a member of the Wildcats, Iguodala threw down a tomahawk slam with his right hand just after he passed the basketball between his legs in mid-air.

A weekend of highs and lows
After one of the greatest comebacks in UA volleyball history Friday night, the Wildcats couldn't utilize the momentum and lost an uninspired match Saturday.
Prior to "Midnight Madness" on Friday and in front of a Pacific 10 Conference record crowd of 9,141, the underdog Wildcats upset the defending national champion and No. 4 Stanford Cardinal in a grueling five-game match.
"The fans were awesome," freshman hitter Kim Glass said. "We feed off of their energy and we want to play well for them. They were just great tonight."

Online Exclusive: Consistently inconsistent
David Rubio knows that his young team will experience highs and lows this season, but is hoping to get all that worked out before the postseason.
The Arizona volleyball coach was right on with that statement this past weekend in the team's matches with No. 4 Stanford and California.
The young Wildcats - a team with only three seniors - showed signs of maturity, but also displayed their lack of experience.

Recruit experiences ÎMadness'
Kirk Walters, a South Christian High School basketball player, was the only UA basketball recruit who attended "Midnight Madness" Friday.
The 6-foot-10 senior forward from Grand Rapids, Mich., caught the attention of the Arizona coaching staff when he played in the Adidas Big-Time Camp in Las Vegas in July.
Arizona invited Walters to Midnight Madness as a part of his recruiting trip.
"It's been a great opportunity to check out and see what the players and coaches are like," he said. "It's something you can't pass up."

Devils stay hot against UA
A team with Arizona in its name continued on two winning streaks this weekend: A seven-game winning streak and an eight-game series streak.
Unfortunately, the team's mascot is a Sun Devil.
ASU (8-1-2, 1-0-0) continued its win streak in the Pacific-10 Conference opener for both teams. The streak has not seen them lose since Sept. 8 to Southern Methodist, 2-1.
The Wildcats (5-5-1, 0-1-0) fell in Tempe Friday night, 3-1, marking the eighth meeting in a row won by ASU and keeping the team undefeated in the series.
