No. 1 Arizona relies on clutch free throws late to preserve victory over ASU

Starting slow has been a problem for Arizona in the first half, but last night, it was the second half that gave the nation's No. 1 team a problem.

The Wildcats nearly blew a 26-point lead in the second half, but held on to win their 10th straight game 71-63 against in-state rival Arizona State in McKale Center. [Read article]

Twenty minutes, twice

Wacky win over ASU a tale of two halves for streaking Wildcats

For the first 20 minutes of the game the Wildcats showed why they are the No. 1 team in the nation.

It doesn't matter what sport it is. It doesn't matter what time of the year it is. Any game against Arizona State is big, and tonight's women's basketball game is no exception.

The No. 19 Wildcats (12-3, 6-2) travel to Tempe to play the Sun Devils (11-6, 3-5) at Wells Fargo Arena tonight at 6p.m.

This will be the first of four consecutive road games for Arizona, including the non-conference finale in Wisconsin on Sunday. [Read article]

photo Tennis takes on San Diego to start spring

Last spring, the Arizona women's tennis team had it moments.

It will now look to take the next step toward high-level consistency and prove it is worthy of its ranking.

The Wildcats proved last season that they are capable of playing with the best teams in the country, and they have been rewarded by a 20th in-the-nation ranking coming into the 2003 spring season.

UA will get its first opportunity to show it is deserving of its top-20 handle when it plays host to University of San Diego this afternoon at 2:30 in the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. [Read article]
