Junior Wildcat Recruiter applications now available
Junior Wildcat Recruiters are looking for university students to recruit middle school students to stay on track for college.
Junior Wildcat Recruiters will give eighth-grade classroom presentations and campus tours for K-8 students. They will also put on programs for parents of eighth-10th graders.
Junior Wildcat Recruiter responsibilities are:
· Conduct campus tours
· Conduct presentations on study skills, college entrance requirements, major and career exploration in eighth-grade classrooms
· Promote the University of Arizona
· Judge essay contests in Tucson elementary schools
· Participate in elementary school awards assemblies
· Visit various middle schools in Tucson
· Volunteer at least 10 hours per month
This program received 1st place at the Best Education Practices in April, 2001. Applications are available in the Nugent building at the front desk. The deadline for applications is tomorrow by 5 p.m.
Heritage fashion show to celebrate Union's opening
At the new Student Union Memorial Center's opening, Feb. 17 ÷ 21, there will be a heritage fashion show highlighting UA apparel through the decades.
If students would like to donate or loan any of their historic UA T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, hats, shorts, etc., contact Student Union Memorial Center Committee member Angie Ballard. She can be reached at ballarda@al.arizona.edu.
Museum of Art will display Îhotel art' beginning Feb. 2
On Groundhog Day, the University of Arizona Museum of Art's mezzanine will be stacked salon style with "hotel art" from UAMA's collection.
This will set the stage for the "Vive La Provence," the Feb. 8 Partners Gala that will benefit the UAMA. Matisse, Renoir and Vuillard are just a few of the French artists that will be on display. For more information, contact Alisa Shorr at 621-7567 or azs@u.arizona.edu
School of Music and Dance offers faculty music concert
UA School of Music and Dance faculty members Suzanne Knosp, Patrick Neher, and Jan Swafford will be performing a concert entirely composed of their music, including Knosp's "The Kissing Waltz" and " Five Poems of Emily Dickinson". The concert will be held at Crowder Hall in the Fine Arts Complex, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m. For ticket prices, contact UA Fine Arts Box Office.
