Seinfeld act should have been advertised in Wildcat
Did anyone know that Jerry Seinfeld was doing a stand-up show in Tucson on Valentine's Day? I sure didn't and I bet most Wildcat readers didn't either. When I finally heard about the show, tickets had been sold out for weeks! Why is it that a popular show on the University of Arizona campus was not advertised to students, nor reported to students by the Wildcat? Now my only option is to pay a premium and buy the tickets on E-Bay or from a local ticket broker. This show is a big event in a town like Tucson, that obviously has a hard time attracting big acts. I would hope that in the future, the Wildcat would do a better job of announcing these kinds of shows to its readers.

Sahara redevelopment should happen
The old Sahara Motel on North Stone Avenue has sat vacant for years. Now, a local businessman wants to take the building, vintage 1950s road sign and all, and turn it into a private student residence hall.
This is a great idea, not to mention an innovative use of property. The campus area needs more housing for students, and the building is only about a mile from the university.
The project is also a sign of urban renewal, taking a vacant building and doing something profitable and constructive with it.

I am also asking the UA community to provide us with the opportunity to set the record straight regarding the matter of the real Pi Kappa Alpha.

Budget cuts could have been avoided
Take a deep breath, Wildcats ÷ it's over for now. But will the administration's flurry of nips and tucks really bring "Focused Excellence" to our little corner of the Old Pueblo?
The answer to that conundrum probably depends on who you ask. For the university's budding landscape architects and librarians, the answer is likely to be a resounding "no." The rest of us will offer a quick breath of thanks for emerging unscathed, cast a guilty glance at our colleagues in doomed programs, and hope that President Likins and the rest of the administration truly have the university's best interests at heart.
