Don't disrespect students for pursuing their dream to learn

This is in response to Jessica Suarez's article, "MAW: Middle Aged Woman."

My dream was always to go to college, but for many in my generation, that was not attainable. So as a mother and as a single parent, I worked hard to make sure my daughters received the best education they could so they would have opportunities I did not. And in turn, it was my daughters who pushed me to go back to school to accomplish my dreams and have been my strongest supporters. [Read article]

Is it appropriate for the University of North Carolina to require all incoming

UNC policy exclusionary

Much ado has been made over the University of North Carolina's post-Sept. 11 policy of requesting that all incoming students read an interpretation of the Quran. I agree superficially with most Americans in believing the policy to be a poor one. However, because the reasons many give for objecting to it are far more ludicrous than the policy itself, both merit consideration. [Read article]

Green good for Republicans

Most people who consider themselves "Republican" are actually imposters in the true Republican Party. Many of you "conservatives" out there either have abandoned your party or you did not understand the ideology of your party when you signed up.

A good portion of you Republicans have sold your conservative souls in order to promote special interests, resulting in the current reign of crooked political leaders who have let money corrupt the political system. [Read article]

Elias crucial choice to help environment

Registered Democrats in the precincts including and surrounding UA have several important primary elections this coming Tuesday. Besides selecting candidates for governor and Congress, a race that has been often overlooked by the press is between Richard Elias and Frank Felix for County Supervisor in District 5.

The office of County Supervisor is not generally very exciting, and is often misunderstood to be an office with little power. This year, however, the winner of the primary could have an enormous impact on the future of our entire community. Local developers are hoping that people throughout the district won't notice.
