Unisex

The California Aggie
U. California-Davis

Some University of California-Davis students are lobbying for the campus to convert all single-stall, gender-specific restrooms to unisex bathrooms, and at least one UCD administrator might sign onto the idea.

In November 2002, the student senate passed a resolution supporting the conversion of one-stall gender-specific bathrooms to non-gender-specific, or unisex, bathrooms.

Fraternity fibs

The Collegiate Times
Virginia Tech

A Virginia Tech fraternity is running advertisements in search of new members, falsely claiming to be the No. 1 fraternity by Gallup Polls and the Heller Research Group.

The fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, distributed table cards in dining halls across campus that falsely advertised the organization's accomplishments.

"The information that they are advertising is incorrect," said Jeff Miller, coordinator of marketing and publications for SAE's national office.

Professor knighted

Daily Northwestern
Northwestern University

Northwestern University chemistry professor John Pople's next trip to England won't be just another visit to his homeland. This summer Pople will be knighted for his contributions to the field of chemistry.

The award of the Insignia of a Knight Commander of the Civil Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire will be a lengthy addition to his already long list of accolades, including the Nobel Prize, an honorary doctorate from Cambridge University and the 1992 Wolf Prize in Chemistry.
