Police mistook former UA basketball player Miles Simon for a robber after a man held up Sparkle Cleaners, 2449 E. Sixth St., at gunpoint Tuesday, reports stated.

UAPD got a call from the Tucson Police Department asking them to look for the robber and were given a description of him.

Police saw Simon walking near the business, pulled out their guns and ordered the man to lie on the ground. The man complied, reports stated.

When police got closer, they realized the man was Simon, reports stated.

Police apologized to Simon and told him they had thought he was the man who had robbed Sparkle Cleaners.

Simon said, "It's OK. You scared me," reports stated.

Simon said he was walking home after playing some basketball, reports stated.

Police apologized to Simon again and shook his hand.

Police continued to patrol the area looking for the robber, reports stated.

A student was attacked by another student while partying early Sunday morning at the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity house, 1801 E. First St., reports stated.

The student told police he was on his way to his friend's room when someone attacked him from behind. The student said he was hit several times in the head and didn't see his attacker, reports stated.

The student said he thought he knew the attacker and could get witnesses, reports stated.

The student was taken to University Medical Center.

The student had a black eye and scratches on his left arm, reports stated. Police photographed the student's injuries.

The student did not want to press charges.

An $800 framed contemporary art picture and a $1,000 framed picture of the members of the Delta Gamma sorority were stolen from the Delta Gamma house, 1448 E. First St., earlier this month, reports stated.

A member of the sorority told police the pictures had been stolen sometime between Feb. 6 and Feb. 10.

She said no one in the house knew who would have taken the pictures, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.

A student's backpack was stolen late Wednesday from the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd., reports stated.

The student told police two Visa credit cards, an ATM card and $7 cash were among the items in the backpack.

The student said she put the backpack down and turned to talk to friends. When she turned back around, the backpack was gone, reports stated.

The arm of a gate on an Eastside exit to the Tyndall parking garage, 880 E. Fourth Ave., was broken when a car drove through it on the night of Jan. 13, reports stated.

A man saw three males in a car drive through the arm, breaking it off. The car exited the garage and drove away, reports stated.

A woman lost her grandchild's blue UA child seat in McKale Center, 1721 E. Enke Drive, while at the basketball game Jan. 25, reports stated.

The woman told police she bought the child seat on the way to the game. The woman and her grandchild went to the game, and when they left, the woman forgot about the child seat, reports stated.

An $800 bicycle was stolen from the Graham-Greenlee Residence Hall, 1418 E. Fourth St., Wednesday morning, reports stated.

The owner of the bike said the bike had been locked with a cable lock.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.

A UA employee received three faxes addressed to three different people Tuesday morning, reports stated.

The employee said all of the faxes were the same but were each addressed to a different doctor.

Police discovered the faxes were sent from a Yahoo e-mail account. A fax was sent back to the account asking that no more faxes be sent, reports stated.
