Stoudamire's 37 lead Cats past Ducks
Salim Stoudamire posted a career-high 37 points to propel the UA men's basketball team past Oregon last night in Eugene, Ore.
No. 14 Arizona (17-6, 9-5 Pac-10) beat the Ducks (12-8, 7-6) by a score of 100-87 despite UO senior Luke Jackson's 42-point outburst, which was a career high for the All-American. He also had 10 rebounds.
Stoudamire shot 9-of-14 from the floor, including 6-of-8 from 3-point distance. The junior, who is the reigning Pac-10 Player of the Week, also hit 13-of-15 free throws.

Women's Hoops: Arizona takes out frustration on OSU
UA 77 ð OSU 54
After suffering two losses in Los Angeles last weekend, the UA women's basketball team was hungry for a victory, to say the least.
Poor Oregon State.
Arizona (19-7, 11-4 Pacific 10 Conference) shot exactly 50 percent against the Beavers (14-10, 8-7) and played stellar defense en route to a 77-54 victory that extended its home winning streak to 26 games.
"I was really pleased," said head coach Joan Bonvicini. "We were all over the place. Our defense really made our offense."

Icecats close out season with ASU
UA plays seasons final games tonight at TCC
The days of the Arizona Icecats' 66-game and decade-plus win streak over ASU are long gone. In fact, the Sun Devils just took the UA's spot in the national tournament. Fortunately for the Icecats, who might be a little upset about that, guess who's coming to town this weekend?
Arizona (11-12-2), which fell from No. 13 to No. 14 in the tournament-deciding poll earlier this week, faces tonight the team that replaced it to earn the final tournament seed - the hated Sun Devils. The Icecats open the series against ASU (14-14-3) tonight at 7:30 in the Tucson Convention Center Arena, 260 S. Church St. Saturday night's game also begins at 7:30.

'Old man' Duran
In the bottom of the 11th inning, senior Moises Duran steps to the plate.
The Wildcat baseball team is tied 5-5 with UC Riverside in the season opener. Two outs, bases empty. It looks like the game's about to head into its third extra inning.
Then Duran drives an outside pitch deep to right center. The right fielder gives chase all the way to the warning track, but has to pull up as the ball carries over Sancet Stadium's brand-new blue wall for a game-winning home run. Duran calmly rounds the bases and joins in a brief celebration with his teammates.

Women's Hoops Analysis
Cats get defensive with Oregon State
The good news for the OSU women's basketball team: it was 9-of-17 (53 percent) from 3-point range in last night's 77-54 loss to the Wildcats.
The bad news: it was 8-of-36 (22 percent) from 2-point range.
While Arizona gave up the occasional open look from beyond the arc, its defense didn't bend when Oregon State tried to take the ball inside.
"Last week against UCLA (an 87-68 loss), we just didn't play defense," said senior guard Aimee Grzyb. "We've been slacking on defense lately, so we've just been trying really hard in practice."

"It's obviously a big challenge," said assistant coach Tad Berkowitz. "USC and UCLA are two of the top programs in the nation."
