Men's Hoops: Cats dammed by Beavers
UA fails to sweep yet another road swing
The bad news: The No. 14 UA men's basketball team fell to Oregon State, 80-74, Saturday night, the squad's fourth loss over its last six road games.
The good news: Arizona won't face another Pacific 10 Conference opponent on the road again this season - until next-month's conference tournament at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The Wildcats are 4-4 on the road during Pac-10 play, failing to sweep a road series all season.

Baseball: Irvine flight saves UA from sweep
Anteaters, Wildcats tie after 10 innings
Before the Anteaters completed a three-game sweep of the Arizona baseball team, they mercifully decided to take their ball and go home.
The Wildcats avoided a sweep at home yesterday to UC Irvine with an 8-8 tie. The Anteaters and Wildcats agreed to end the contest after 10 innings because Irvine had to catch a flight back to California.
The Wildcats' (5-3-1) last tie came in 1995 when they played Texas A&M to a 3-3 game in College Station, Texas.

Both the No. 15 Gymcats (6-2-1, 2-2-1 Pacific 10 Conference) and No. 16 Washington Huskies (6-3-1, 2-2-1) posted an overall score of 197.300 in front of 846 fans in McKale Center. Arizona's score was its best of the season and .075 short of the school record, set March 14 against Oklahoma.

Tennis: Cats just miss upset of UCLA
Depleted UA squad nearly knocks off nation's No. 2 team
The Arizona men's tennis team shouldn't have had a chance Saturday at home against UCLA.
The Bruins entered the game ranked No. 2 in the nation, the Wildcats had lost 7-0 to Southern California the day before, and the UA was playing without some of its best players, including senior Tom Lloyd, who sat out with a groin injury.
But nobody told the Wildcats they were supposed to lose. Instead, a depleted Arizona (6-3) squad battled the Bruins (9-2) to the end before falling just short.
