A $2,000 maroon and silver mo-ped belonging to the UA's financial aid director was stolen sometime between Feb. 20 and Tuesday while it was parked at the University Services Annex East building, 220 W. Sixth St., reports stated.

John Nametz, director of financial aid, told police he had locked the handlebars of the mo-ped before leaving it.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.


Someone stole a bucket of Eegee's strawberry frozen drink sometime Tuesday or Wednesday from the hot dog stand near the Nugent building, 1212 E. University Blvd., reports stated.

An employee told police the stand was locked up around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and when he went to work at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, he noticed a lock on one of the freezers had been taken off.

The bucket of Eegee's was valued at $15, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


Someone stole a student's $500 diamond and topaz ring, $220 charm bracelet and $150 bracelet from the student's room in the Navajo Residence Hall, 1557 E. Sixth St., earlier this month, reports stated.

The student told police she had kept her jewelry in two heart-shaped tins. She went on vacation Feb. 11 and realized she had forgotten the tins on her desk.

When she returned Feb. 15, the tins with the jewelry inside were gone, reports stated.

The student's roommate said she didn't remember seeing the tins on the student's desk. She told police she had been in and out of the room while the student was on vacation.

The student told police she had not reported the incident right away because she had hoped she would find the tins.

Police advised the student to post fliers for the missing jewelry, reports stated.


A student was caught stealing a $7.99 Tombstone frozen pizza Wednesday night from the U-Mart inside the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd., reports stated.

Employees watched the student walk out with the pizza, bend over behind a car and drop a white grocery bag.

An employee detained the student at East Second Street and North Mountain Avenue until police arrived, reports stated.

Police went back and found the frozen pizza in the plastic bag the student had dropped behind the car.

Police ran a name check on the student and discovered the student had an outstanding warrant from the Tucson Police Department, reports stated.

The student was arrested and booked into Pima County Jail, reports stated.


A man broke the glass door of a firehouse box early Wednesday morning in Babcock Inn Residence Hall, 1717 E. Speedway Blvd., reports stated.

A woman told police she had seen a young man who seemed drunk break the glass door and then run.

Police searched the area and were unable to find the young man, reports stated.

The woman told police that maintenance had already been told about the incident and were going to repair the damage.


A $500 black laptop computer was stolen sometime between Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning from the Physics and Atmospheric Sciences building, 1118 E. Fourth St., reports stated.

A UA employee told police the laptop belonged to the physics department and had last been seen in his office.

The employee told police he had locked the door before leaving and only custodians had a key to the room, reports stated.

Police found no signs of forced entry.


Someone cut off the valve stem of a student's red and black mountain bike's rear tire sometime Tuesday or Wednesday while it was parked at the Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St., reports stated.

The student told police he had to pay $10 to get the valve stem replaced.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.


A $700 bike was stolen Tuesday from the Music building, 1017 N. Olive Road, reports stated.

The owner of the bike told police he had locked the bike with a cable lock around 8:30 a.m., and when he returned at 5 p.m., his bike was gone.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.


Someone broke a window sometime Monday or Tuesday in a room in Sky View Apartments, 1050 E. Eighth St., reports stated.

A resident assistant told police the window had been broken sometime between 8 a.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday.

When police arrived, they noticed it looked as if the window had been broken from the inside, possibly with a golf ball, reports stated.

Both residents of the room told police they didn't know what had happened.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.
