A student used a two-way radio Wednesday night to claim there was a bomb in Bear Down Gym, 1428 E. University Blvd., reports stated.

Employees of the Student Recreation Center who were inside the gym heard the student yell through the radio, "There's a bomb in the building," around 8 p.m.

The student, who had been playing basketball, then left the building, reports stated.

Recreation center staff searched the building and decided not to evacuate. They identified the student with his CatCard, reports stated.

When police arrived, they searched the building and didn't find anything suspicious.

Police found a 2-inch steel smoking pipe early Tuesday morning on a man believed to be looking through car windows in the Skyview Residence Hall parking lot, 1050 E. Eighth St., reports stated.

When police arrived, they spoke to a student who told police he had seen the man crawl out of a ditch and look at cars in the parking lot. Police found no damage or theft to any of the cars in the parking lot, reports stated.

Police found a man matching the description the student had given them on East Ninth Street and North Park Avenue.

The man told police he had been drinking and was trying to walk home. He told police he had smoked marijuana in an alley earlier that night, reports stated.

When police asked the man if he had anything on him, the man said he had a pipe in his left front pocket.

He gave police the pipe, which contained a black resin that police believed to be burnt marijuana, reports stated.

The man told police he was just trying to be honest.

The man then told police he had smoked marijuana for the first time that night, but later changed his story and said he had last smoked marijuana from the pipe two weeks prior, reports stated.

The man said earlier in the night he had been trying to get a hit from the resin left in the pipe. The man said he had been unable to get a hit, and he didn't have any marijuana on him.

The man then told police marijuana in Arizona was a lot cheaper than marijuana in Washington.

The man was cited and released, and the pipe was placed into evidence, reports stated.

Several UA employees told police on Feb. 26 they wanted to document a former lab attendant who they say sexually harassed them while working in the Forbes building, 1140 E. South Campus Drive, reports stated.

One employee told police that while she was working, the lab attendant would get to close to female employees and make comments about how good their bodies looked.

Another employee told police the lab attendant had often said he hated working at the Forbes building, and he hoped he would get fired so he could collect unemployment.

The employee then told police the man had thrown boxes on the floor, yelling, "Fuck this place!"

The employee also told police the lab attendant had told him, "Screw you," reports stated.

Another employee told police the lab attendant had gone to lunch one day and never came back. The lab attendant later called the employee and told him he wasn't coming back.

All of the employees told police they felt the lab attendant was unstable and wanted to document his actions in case he tried to come back, reports stated.

A man was caught stealing an $89.95 textbook from the UofA Bookstore, 1209 E. University Blvd., on Feb. 27, reports stated.

Two bookstore employees saw the man on a security monitor and noticed he was acting fidgety. They then saw the man pick up the textbook and walk out, reports stated.

Police found the man matching the description given by bookstore employees carrying a new-looking textbook, reports stated.

The bookstore employees identified the man as the one they had seen on the security monitor, reports stated.

The man was arrested and the book was returned to the bookstore.

A man and a student got into an argument Monday night at Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., after the student left an obscene message on a woman's answering machine, reports stated.

When police arrived, they separated the man from the student.

The man told police he was visiting his girlfriend, who was a resident of Coronado. The man said the student had left an obscene message on his girlfriend's machine.

He told police the message said, "Tell your boyfriend I fucked you," reports stated.

The man said he had been upset by the message and had gone to confront the student.

The man and the student then got into an argument.

The man's girlfriend told police she had deleted the message left, reports stated.

The student was asked not to contact the man or his girlfriend again.
