A man punched his girlfriend in the head and then punched another female passenger trying to protect the girlfriend while on a city bus near North Cherry Avenue and East University Boulevard on April 16 at 1:40 p.m., reports stated.

The incident began after the man stole his girlfriend's phone from her because she received a call from another man, reports stated.

The couple started arguing and the man went to the front of the bus with the phone. The girlfriend tried to get her phone back, and the man punched her in the face with a closed fist, reports stated.

He pinned her up against a seat in the front of the bus and punched her in the head at least 10 times, reports stated.

The female passenger told police she could not just watch the man abuse his girlfriend, so she put her hand on the girlfriend to protect her. The man punched the woman in the arm and hand, reports stated.

The man also opened two windows and the top emergency escape hatch and threatened to throw his girlfriend's phone off the bus, reports stated.

The man left the bus, returned and hit his girlfriend several more times before leaving the scene with the cell phone, reports stated.

The passenger's hand was red and swollen, and she was treated at Campus Health Service, reports stated.

The passenger and another witness said they would testify against the man, reports stated.

Police tried to contact the man on the cell phone but received no answer. The man will be arrested when he is found, reports stated.

A UA custodian found "Call Mom" and "Burt Renolds" (sic) spray-painted on two separate walls of the Integrated Learning Center, 1500 E. University Blvd., at 5:11 a.m. Monday, reports stated.

"Call Mom" was found painted in red on the west wall near the elevators. "Burt Renolds" was painted in blue on the opposite wall, reports stated.

The custodian did not say when the painting was done but said it would be power-washed later that afternoon, reports stated.

Police searched records for someone with the name "Burt Renolds," but no matches turned up, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.

A man in California opened an e-mail from a university account Monday at 6:10 p.m. that contained a link to a child pornography Web site, reports stated.

The man faxed a copy of the e-mail to UAPD, and the IP address on the e-mail was traced to a company in Australia and was not sent from a UA computer, reports stated.

Police informed the man that it did not come from the UA, reports stated.

The e-mail account belongs to a UA employee who police were unable to contact or leave a message with, reports stated.

Police tried to access the site manually but were unable to, reports stated.

Police will try to contact the owner.

A student lost his $1,200 laptop and $100 leather briefcase sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. on Monday at McDonald's in the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd., reports stated.

The student last saw his laptop at McDonald's, reports stated.

He looked at lost and found for the computer, but it had not been turned in. He also asked McDonald's employees if they had seen it, and they had not, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.

UA custodians found that an ice cream machine had been vandalized Monday at 9:25 p.m. on the first floor of the Harvill building, 1103 E. Second St., reports stated.

Police did not see any broken glass or pry marks on the machine, but the door of the machine was not secure, reports stated.

Nothing was missing from the machine, reports stated.

Police tried to contact someone from the company that owned the machine to confirm it had been vandalized and was not just a matter of negligence on their part, reports stated.

UAPD has not heard back from the company, reports stated.

A man was arrested for trespassing Apr. 26 at 8:53 a.m. after sleeping on a concrete stoop at 7-Eleven, 1750 E. Speedway Blvd., reports stated.

Police awoke the man and he verbally identified himself as a man that they had warned not to trespass on the property two days earlier, reports stated.

Police cited and released the man and he walked away without any trouble, reports stated.

A $50 root beer keg tap was stolen at 11:45 a.m. Friday during a get-together on the eastside of Cochise Residence Hall, 1018 E. South Campus Drive, reports stated.

The resident who reported the theft said that another resident saw a man walk away with something under his shirt just before the tap was discovered missing, reports stated.

Whoever took the tap was not a resident of the hall, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.
