A woman was arrested for hindering the prosecution of her husband by lying to police in front of Circle K, 977 E. Speedway Blvd., around 5 p.m. on August 1, reports stated.

A UAPD officer was leaving the Circle K when a car pulled up and the driver and passenger got out and walked into the store. The man who was in the passenger seat looked at the ground the whole time and did not make eye contact with the officer.

The officer ran a record check on the license plate of the vehicle and found that the male owner of the vehicle had an outstanding TPD traffic warrant, reports stated.

When the woman came out of the store, she asked the officer, "What's the problem?" The officer asked the woman if she was the owner of the vehicle and she said yes. He asked her if the man with her was her husband and she said that it was her cousin, reports stated.

When the man came out of the store, the officer asked for some identification and the woman said, "He doesn't know his information, you will have to ask me." When asked why he didn't know his own information the man said, "I'm illiterate," reports stated.

The officer asked the man if he was the woman's cousin and he said, "No, I'm her husband," reports stated.

The man said he was aware of his warrant and his wife was only looking out for him because she didn't want him to go to jail.

The woman was cited and released. The man was not served his TPD traffic warrant.

Two men were looking in bushes and car windows near the Sigma Pi fraternity house, 1525 E. Drachman St., at 2 a.m. July 31, reports stated.

An on-duty Rankin officer saw the men and when the men noticed they were being watched they walked away. While they were walking they "said the f-word" and said something about the new fraternity, said the Rankin officer.

The men got into a red sports car and drove away. After they left, a silver car was driving slowly around the fraternity house, reports stated.

There was no damage to any of the cars and police have no other witness or suspect information.

A student was followed for 45 minutes while running between Country Club Road and Euclid Avenue late at night on July 31, reports stated.

The woman said she started running at about 8:30 p.m. She saw a black Suburban at the stoplight at North Campbell Avenue and East Third Street.

It then followed her into the Sam Hughes neighborhood and was at every stop sign she ran past. The truck would wait for her to stop before proceeding each time, reports stated.

The driver never made contact with the student. She also told police that she could not identify the man if she saw him again but would recognize the Suburban, reports stated.

Someone left couches, pots, pans and other household items in front of the Custodial Services building, 1730 N. Vine St., sometime on July 30, reports stated.

Employees found the items between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. and no one in the department had any idea who had left the items.

The associate director of custodial maintenance said he would like a midnight patrol between 1 a.m. and 3a.m. because similar incidents have occurred in the last two weeks, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.

An officer found a one-dollar bill in the Education building, 1430 E. Second St., around 6 a.m. on July 30, reports stated.

The officer was in the building to unlock a door and found the bill. The officer did not see anyone around to claim the bill.

He took the bill to UAPD headquarters to place it into property.

Someone damaged three windows on the east side of the Gamma Pi Beta sorority house, 1535 E. First St., sometime between July 28 and 29, reports stated.

Sometime between 3 p.m. on July 28 and 11 a.m. on July 29, someone chipped the windows with a pellet or BB gun, reports stated.

The reporting party believes the members of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity are to blame because their house faces the east side of the sorority, reports stated.

An officer walked across the street to question the members of the fraternity but no one answered the door.

Police have no other suspects or witnesses and the reporting party just wanted the incident documented.
