Arizona Daily Wildcat wins national awards
Arizona Daily Wildcat photographer David Harden has received the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Award, for best feature photo nationwide. The photo, of sports fans yelling at a television in a local bar, was taken during the 2002 NCAA basketball tournament. The Wildcat was also named earlier this month as a finalist for the national Pacemaker award, one of about 15 college daily papers to be nominated. The Pacemaker is the highest award given by the Associated Collegiate Press. The Wildcat hasn't won or been a finalist in five years. The winner will be announced in November. The ACP also honored the Wildcat with honorable mention awards in classified advertising and rate card.
