Two students were arrested for possession of marijuana when police found them smoking on the top level of the Tyndall Parking Garage, 880 E. Fourth St., on Sept. 16, reports stated.

During a check of the garage at 12:45 a.m., a police officer saw two men sitting on the tailgate of a white pick up truck. When they approached the men, the officer noticed one of them lean back into the bed of the truck, reports stated.

The officer asked the student to get off the truck. When he looked in the bed of the truck, the officer found a bag of marijuana and a warm smoking pipe hidden behind a toolbox, reports stated.

One student claimed responsibility for the pipe and the other for the bag of marijuana. Both were cited with possession of marijuana charges and deferred to the Dean of Student's diversion program, reports stated.


A student called police after his backpack was stolen from an unlocked locker at UA Student Recreation Center on Sept. 16, reports stated.

The student put the book bag in the men's locker room but did not lock it. When he returned, the bag was gone, reports stated.

Inside the bag were the student's math and Spanish books, and his wallet, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.


A UA parking attendant witnessed a group of women vandalize and break into five cars parked in a UA parking lot, 1240 E. Ft. Lowell, on Sept. 16, reports stated.

The parking attendant was checking meters at an apartment complex across the street from the parking lot at 12:45 p.m. when he saw a white Buick sedan pull into the lot. Three to four Hispanic women got out of the car and started smashing the windows of the parked cars, reports stated.

He saw some of the women enter the cars and take items out. The women got back into the car and drove off after a number of car alarms went off, reports stated.

The employee was able to get the license plate number of the Buick by using his meter-reading scope, reports stated.

The owners of the cars called UAPD later to report the vandalism. Three car stereos were stolen from the cars. A CD case with 200 CDs were also stolen, reports stated.


A UA student called police after he saw two suspicious men sitting on campus, one of whom was seen stealing a bike from the Education building, 1430 E. 2nd St., on Sept. 16, reports stated.

The student said he saw two men sitting on a bench at the Administration building, 1401 E. University Blvd. He said, "They looked out of place so I watched them," reports stated.

The student followed one student to the bike rack at the Education building. He took a set of large bolt cutters from his pants and broke the lock of a secured bike. The man then rode the bike away, reports stated.

Police have no other witnesses to the theft and do not know if the other man committed a crime, reports stated.


Students at La Aldea Residence Hall, 825 E. Fifth St., called police after a suspicious man was found wandering the halls trying to get into people's rooms on Sept. 16, reports stated.

Police responded to a woman's room at 8 p.m. after she reported that a man asked to inspect her kitchen pipes. When the woman refused to allow the man to inspect her pipes, the man said he was selling magazine subscriptions, reports stated.

Other students in the area told the officer that the man was trying to get access to people's rooms by saying he "just wanted to talk" and "I need your votes," reports stated.

Police are looking for a black male, 5 foot 8 inches, wearing a red shirt and baggy jeans.


UAPD officers chased and arrested two men who were seen beating another man with a baseball bat in the parking lot of Circle K, 977 E. Speedway Blvd., on Sept. 14, reports stated. A UAPD officer drove by the store and saw 15 to 20 people in the parking lot looking at a group of six men standing over another man. When he turned on his emergency lights, the men ran, reports stated.

A security guard from the store told police that one of the men had beat the other with a bat. The officer ran after two men who ran through the neighborhood, reports stated.

Police were able to apprehend the two men at gunpoint after they led the officers on a chase northbound on North Highland Avenue, reports stated.
