Convention center plays host to WWE television program
World Wrestling Entertainment was in town last night for the televised "WWE Raw" at the Tucson Convention Center Arena.
While the thought of professional wrestling may immediately trigger the word "fake" in the minds of most, so-called sports entertainers should most definitely be considered athletes ÷ at least according to them.

Front Row Center: Terry should be next on McKale wall
Sunday at McKale Center was supposed to be the Jason Gardner show, as the All-American beloved UA point guard was scheduled to have his jersey retired during a ceremony at the Lute Olson All-Star Classic.
But after word traveled that Gardner wouldn't be able to make the game ÷ ultimately postponing the ceremony until later in the season ÷ another former Wildcat backcourt star took advantage of an opportunity to be the star of the show.

CB Martin switches to receiver; starting QB not yet determined
Two years ago, members of the Wildcat coaching staff had a pretty deep receiving corps on their hands. This led them to move then wide receiver Gary Love to cornerback, and in this, his senior season, he is listed as one of the team's two starters at the position.
With the success of Love's transition, head coach John Mackovic has decided to try sophomore cornerback Jason Martin at receiver. The Wildcats lost receiver Andrae Thurman for the year for academic reasons, leaving a big hole at the spot. The team has also had an influx in cornerbacks with the strong play of senior cornerback Luis Nunez and the emergence of freshman Wilrey Fontenot.

Softball sends 10 Cats to Olympic trials in Calif.
Ten former or current University of Arizona softball players have been named to the list of 46 players invited to participate in 2003 Olympic Trials next month in Chula Vista, Calif.
Olympic head coach Mike Candrea, who will work part-time as UA's mentor during the next year, will lead the staff that selects the team. Six former players and four current members of the Wildcat softball program will compete.
