Question: Why are nearly all UA students and employees receiving e-mails from rtucker@email.arizona.edu?
Answer: Well, just two days ago, I too woke up to find a UAPD press release sent to me by none other than rtucker.
But who exactly is this person? Campus Detective went in for a closer look and found out surprisingly little about the operator behind the computer screen.
"rtucker" is short for Raquel Tucker, an applications systems analyst in the Registrar's Office. She sends out mass distributions of e-mails detailing upcoming events and university business. This is accomplished via an extensive listserv that reaches everyone on campus.
This listserv is only used for important, official university communication, and the university uses it infrequently, said Sharon Kha, UA spokeswoman.
When called for more information, Tucker was very hesitant to unveil any details concerning her job or personal characteristics.
But Tucker did say that many students have e-mailed her asking who she is and why she is sending them e-mails.
Tucker said she is unable to tell them very much because the Registrar's Office wants to keep her identity under wraps. The reason for that is unknown. And perhaps it's to maintain an aura of secrecy.
So it seems that no student really knows who Raquel Tucker is · and maybe no one ever will ·
