Things you always never wanted to know

  • The captain in "Star Trek," James T. Kirk's middle name is Tiberius.

  • Jack Mercer was the voice of Popeye the Sailor for 45 years.

  • On average, a movie makes about five times more from its video sales than ticket takings.

  • A grand piano can be played faster than an upright piano.

  • In 1958, the United States sent two mice named Laska and Benjy into space. In 1963, the French launched a cat named Feliette into space. Makes you wonder·

  • The Goliath frog of Cameroon is the size of a baby deer.

  • On New Year's Day, 1907, Theodore Roosevelt shook hands with 8,513 people.

  • An exocannibal eats only enemies. An indocannibal eats only friends.

  • In 1973, Swedish confectionary salesman Roland Ohisson was buried in a coffin made entirely of chocolate. Talk about dark chocolate! Talk about dying a sweet death! Talk about ÷ okay, sorry.

  • Until he was 18, Woody Allen read virtually nothing but comic books. But he did show his writing skills by selling one-liners for 10 cents each to gossip columnists.

  • During World War II a cat called Oscar served on the German battleship Bismarck. When the Bismarck was torpedoed, Oscar was rescued by a British sailor on board HMS Cossack. Five months later, HMS Cossack was sunk but Oscar was rescued by HMS Ark Royal. Only three weeks later a German U-boat destroyed Ark Royal and Oscar was rescued again. The naval authorities then decided that Oscar had had enough and posted him on land. According to British naval records, Oscar died peacefully in 1955.
