A student on a bike was nearly run over by a UA

employee on the corner of North Park Avenue and East Second Street Thursday, reports stated.

The student was riding his bike around noon when a UA truck passed him and then cut in front of him, almost hitting his bike, reports stated.

The student yelled at the driver, and the driver stopped and said, "You got a problem with that?" The driver then laughed, reports stated.

The driver was contacted by police and said he didn't know why the student started yelling at him.

The driver was given a verbal warning, reports stated


A fight broke out late Saturday night between two friends at Pima Residence Hall, 1340 E. First St., reports stated.

When police arrived, one of the students involved in the fight took off. He was stopped between the Education building and the Modern Languages building, reports stated.

The student told police that he had been fighting with his friend. They had been at Bum Steer Restaurant, 1910 N. Stone Ave., and they were slap boxing. It got out of hand and the fight continued at Pima, reports stated.

Both students had bruises and scrapes on their foreheads, reports stated.

Neither student wanted to press charges because they were good friends.

One student was a Pima Community College student. The other, a UA student, received a Dean of Students referral.


Two men were caught attempting to steal a $250 bicycle Friday night from the FIJI house, 1801 E. University Blvd., reports stated.

One of the men said he was stealing the bicycle "because the guy who owns this bike owes me $130, and I took his bike for payment," reports stated. The man had used bolt cutters to steal the bike, reports stated.

The other man said he had not known they were going to steal a bike, reports stated. "I thought it was odd when he started to cut the lock," he said.

He said he didn't stop the other man from stealing the bike because they were friends.

Both men were arrested for stealing, reports stated.


A man was given a DUI after causing an accident on the corner of East Speedway Boulevard and North Mountain Avenue, reports stated.

The man had driven into the rear end of a Cadillac STS, which was stopped at a red light, after his car's brakes stopped working, reports stated.

His Nissan received damage to the driver's side front end. The Cadillac had damage to the passenger's side rear end, reports stated.

Police smelled alcohol, but the man said that he had not been drinking. Police noticed that he had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his speech, reports stated.

He was given a Breathalyzer and blew a .141, reports stated.

The man was arrested and released to his sister.


Ten juveniles stole food from a luncheon that was taking place at the Education building, 1430 E. Second St., around noon on Saturday, reports stated.

A woman tried to stop them from taking the food, but one of the boys told her that his father was an employee and it was OK.

Then the juveniles all took off on skateboards, reports stated.

Police confronted the juveniles and found one unwrapped sandwich and a bottle of Pepsi, reports stated. The lunches were worth $7 each.

The woman who called police did not wish to press charges.

The students were warned and released, reports stated.

The Pepsi and the sandwich were discarded, reports stated.


A student's brand new Play Station 2 was taken from Cochise Residence Hall, 1018 E. South Campus Drive, and switched with a broken one sometime between Jan. 18 and Jan. 20, reports stated.

The student said he noticed that the Play Station 2 was not his when it wouldn't work. He checked the model number on the Play Station 2 and discovered that it did not match the model number on his manual.

His roommate's friend later returned the student's Play Station 2. The man said he thought it was the roommate's Play Station 2 and borrowed it, reports stated.

No charges were pressed.


An $8,000 Ford F-150 pickup and a $6,000 Suzuki motorcycle were stolen around the same time from the College of Nursing, 1325 N. Warren Ave., on Jan. 20, reports stated.

The motorcycle was stolen sometime between 11 a.m. and 1:45 p.m., reports stated. The pickup was stolen sometime between 8:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

No glass was found in the area.

Police have no suspects in either case, reports stated.
